Admitted Courts of Appeals

The Law Office of Jeremy Gordon is admitted  to practice in all 12 Federal Appellate Circuit Courts.  These are the courts where appeals of both convictions and 2255 motions are heard.  We regularly practice in these courts including extensive filing of appeals and conducting of oral arguments.

First Circuit Court of Appeals is located in Boston, Massachusetts. This court hears federal criminal appeals in all federal criminal cases from the following district courts:

  • Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Puerto Rico and Rhode Island

Second Circuit Court of Appeals is located in New York. This court hears federal criminal appeals in all federal criminal cases from the following district courts:

  • Connecticut, New York and Vermont

Third Circuit Court of Appeals is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This court hears federal criminal appeals in all federal criminal cases from the following district courts:

  • Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania

Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals is located in Richmond, Virginia. This court hears federal criminal appeals in all federal criminal cases from the following district courts:

  • Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia

Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals is located in New Orleans, Louisiana. This court hears federal criminal appeals in all federal criminal cases from the following district courts:

  • Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas

Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals is located in Cincinnati, Ohio. This court hears federal criminal appeals in all federal criminal cases from the following district courts:

  • Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee

Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals is located in Chicago, Illinois. This court hears federal criminal appeals in all federal criminal cases from the following district courts:

  • Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin

Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals is located in St. Louis, Missouri. This court hears federal criminal appeals in all federal criminal cases from the following district courts:

  • Arkansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota

Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals is located in San Fransisco, California. This court hears federal criminal appeals in all federal criminal cases from the following district courts:

  • Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Washington

Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals is located in Denver, Colorado. This court hears federal criminal appeals in all federal criminal cases from the following district courts:

  • Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Utah and Wyoming

Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals is located in Atlanta, Georgia. This court hears federal criminal appeals in all federal criminal cases from the following district courts:

  • Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama, Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida and Northern, middle and Southern Districts of Georgia

Admission on Pro Hac Vice Basis

The Attorneys at the Law Office of Jeremy Gordon can represent you or your loved one in many districts through admittance on a pro hac vice or case-by-case basis.  This is most common in courts that have residency requirements.  Application to some courts may require us to associate with local counsel.  This means that we would work with a local lawyer that may sign on the case with us.  

In these situations, the attorneys at the law office of Jeremy Gordon would do the substantive work, meaning all the filings, documents and arguments.  Please reach out for any additional questions on this topic.
